
Kohima, January 23 (MExN): Mission Organic Value Chain Development- North East Region phase-III under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture, Nagaland and the Service provider, Green Caravan held a Training of farmers on Post Harvest Management and Managerial Training of FPCs, BoDs & CEOs, Book keeping and Accounting at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on January 18.
The Training session and workshop was chaired by Manen Ozukum, Project Coordinator of TGC.
Deputy Director (Organic) Dr James Chawang was the resource person for the training where he shared guidelines of the programme and the various subsidies available within the MOVCD-NER scheme.
Encouraging farmers to cultivate high value crops with marketing strategies, he informed that FPC can avail 75 percent subsidy for Integrated Processing Unit, Integrated pack house, cold room, refrigerated van and 50% subsidy for purchase of transportation vehicles.
Chairperson of The Green Caravan, Service Provider for MOVCD-NER, Richard Belho also gave his insights on the importance of organic farming and lessening dependence on machines because once the machines stop working, production also comes to a halt.
Under MOVCD-NER, two FPCs under Dimapur have been formed namely Dimapur Organic Producer Company Limited and Kana Organic Producer Company Limited, a press release stated.
