TSU’s 61st general session: 'Enabling Potentialities'

KOHIMA, DECEMBER 29 (MExN): The 61st General Session of the Thetsumi Students' Union (TSU) was held on December 28 at Pfutsepa, Thetsumi village in Phek district under the theme “'Enabling Potentialities.”

Dr. Neivetso Venuh, former Pro-Vice Chancellor, Department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University Kohima Campus, Meriema graced the session as the chief guest while his lady wife Lochumi Venuh, Deputy Director (Retd.), Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Venuh emphasized the importance of having a clear vision.

He told the students to never feel ashamed of undertaking small tasks. He asked the students to understand and optimize the time when they learn most effectively in theoretical studies and to follow one's interests and passion rather than solely pursuing what parents desire for, as true fulfillment comes from doing what one love.

Dr. Venuh emphasized to cherish the native village and contribute to its growth, learn from its traditions actively and preserve one's culture.  

Lochumi encouraged the students to broaden their knowledge by learning from their parent’s experiences and learn the basic life skills such as household chores, gardening, cooking etc with parents leading by example rather than solely focusing on theoretical studies.

She elaborated the value of natural resources and stressed on the need to utilize it for ensuring sustainability and long-term wellbeing.

Pfhülo Sara, president, Chakhesang Students' Union shared greetings. He conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Thetsumi village for their remarkable efforts in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Chakhesang tribe during the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024 at Kisama.

Talking on the importance of dignity of labour, Sara encouraged the student to strive to leverage their skills to secure meaningful livelihood opportunities and not only emphasize on Government jobs.

He also emphasized on the importance of mother tongue as an essential part of our cultural heritage.
