Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): Home Minister of Nagaland Imkong Imchen today said the Peren administration has already arrested two persons accused in the Inavi village attack of June 30 and has appealed for restraint above community or tribal sentiments and loyalty.  The Home minister issued a statement today expressing the Nagaland government’s ‘serious concerns’ over the “unfortunate incident in Inavi village on 30th June last where lost of life and injuries has happened.”
Immediately after the incident, Imchen said, the government took necessary steps by constituting a high-level committee to enquire into the issue and report to the government within one-month time. “However, it was regrettable that aggrieved parties have refuse to the inquiry committee which has made the committee difficult to file its report to the government. Unless the committee files its report the government finds it difficult to act upon over the incident,” the minister said in his statement.
The administration and police has ‘started taking necessary steps on their part so as to apprehend the culprit’ he said. “In the process, the SP Peren has already arrested two of the accused persons and keeping them under custody till today and relentlessly pursuing the matter to apprehend/arrest the perpetrators,” the minister said.
“As such, government is sincerely and seriously pursuing the matter. I therefore, appeal to all the aggrieved parties to exercise further restrain so as to allow the law to take its own course of action.”
Imchen reminded that ‘to build up a healthy and cohesive society’, every concerned citizen should think and act above personal affiliation or loyalty to own community “with the view that the evil of ‘ism’ is eradicated through our collective effort.” “I appreciate the restrain exercised by all the affected communities till today and hope that they shall still show good example to the Naga people for a healthy growth of the Naga family,” Imchen stated.

TPO asks Govt to clarify
The Teniyimi Peoples’ Organization today asked the government of Nagaland to “clarify the true picture to the public to avoid further confusions of the serious accusation as leveled by Western Sümi Hoho, about the disappearance of the death body of late Inashe, as was published in the local media.”
The TPO asked the government “to physically verify and clarify the controversial gate of Beisumpuikam village, whether it is a ‘War Gate” as alleged or a ‘traditional village gate’ as claimed, to the public at the earliest to avoid possible misunderstanding and physical confrontation among the parties involved in the case.”
The TPO issued a statement today, appended by its president ZM Sekhose and general secretary Benjamin Lorin.  Appealing to the “contending parties” to maintain clam and peace for the larger interest of the Naga communities, the TPO said, “How the crisis Intangki National Park has gone from bad to worst down the years is known to all Nagas.”

“Beisumpuikam is the threatening slash point of the crisis right now. The extreme good or poisonous evil that Intangki National Park can produce for all Nagas in the coming years must not be underestimated by anyone,” the organization cautioned.
“Which one of this two stark consequences will be produce will depend on whether or not those involves in the crisis will cooperate to resolves the problem by showing serious sense of responsibility the present situation demand. The TPO makes this appeal with all the emphasis it can command.”
The TPO expressed belief in ‘pure democracy’, due legal process, transparency and ‘peaceful method’ for preservation and protection of “our priceless forest eco-system for the interest of all the Nagas in particular and of mankind in general.”

Peren admin appeals to tribes
Peren district administration appeals to representatives of the two communities involved in dispute over Intangki National Park, to refrain from violence but give conciliation a chance even as the administration is exerting all efforts to prevent “escalation of ill-will.”  Deputy Commissioner of Peren Khrienuo C Metha issued a note appealing to the two communities involved in dispute over land in Intangki National Park.
The Peren district administration is putting in all efforts to prevent “any escalation of ill-will” between the communities and is impressing upon both sides to exercise restraint. “This will remain our stated objective. The long-term objective of the administration is to serve in the best interest of the general public. The ordinary citizens look forward to a future of peace devoid of any kind of violence and hatred between communities,” the message read.
Assuring that the administration is acting without fear or favor, the Peren administrator appealed to the representatives of both the communities to ‘abjure violence, desist from issuing ultimatums and give conciliation a chance.’ The DC also appealed to both the communities to maintain calm and support the administration in resolving the issue and restore peace.
