
Kohima, January 6 (MExN): The Nagaland University on Wednesday notified that the undergraduate odd semester examinations will start from January 18 through online mode.
The exams for the Three Year Degree Course BA/B.SC/B.COM/BBA/BCA 1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters will go on till February 4 as per a notification from the varsity. It also informed students that the exams will be conducted as per the routine notified earlier on December 10, 2020.
“A detailed guideline for online examinations shall be notified shortly,” added the notification issued by NU Controllers of Examinations.
It further stated that any “any information on examination related matters available on the official website of Nagaland University shall only be considered authentic.”
Routine for the exams may be downloaded from Nagaland University website–nagalanduniversity.ac.in, it added.
Earlier on November 13, 2020, the Nagaland University had postponed the examinations which were scheduled for December 7, 2020 through offline mode.
The postponement came after various student organisations including the All Nagaland College Students’ Union expressed concerns over various logistical as well as health and safety concerns for the college community, in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, the Department of Higher and Technical Education on November 12, 2020, directed the varsity to reschedule the exam.
ANCSU appeals for undisrupted exams
Following the announcement, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed authorities and service providers to ensure regular power supply and undisrupted internet services during the exam period.
In a press release on Wednesday, ANSCU President Vimeyiekho Vitso and General Secretary Imnameren N Jamir acknowledged the State Government and NU’s decision to conduct the exams online. “This noble consideration by the Nagaland University and the State Government has re-affirmed that the welfare of the students and the colleges’ fraternity is prioritized,” it stated.
The ANCSU also appealed the college students’ to appear the online exams responsibly and ensure fruitful outcome through this online exam.
Prior to the NU’s announcement, ANCSU had on Wednesday submitted an appeal to the state Chief Secretary seeking clarity on the mode of examinations.
“With less than a fortnight away from the commencement of exam, the Nagaland University is yet to inform the students’ as to whether the exam is to be conducted offline or online. This in return has kept the concerned students at disquietude,” it had stated in its appeal.
