Use RTI and cleanse system-Imkong

Dimapur June 8 (MExN): Congress Leader of Opposition I Imkong has called for promoting the Right to Information Act (RTI), urging officers to make the best use of the Act and “be aware of what is taking place in the state.” The Opposition Leader was addressing the Mokokchung DPDB’s monthly meeting on June 7. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, T. Nungsang Ao chaired the meeting. 

Impressing upon the officers present, the need to use the RTI to keep ahead “with what’s happening in the state,” Imkong opined that Mokokchung should set an example with transparency and accountability through its  district officers,  ahead of other district in all the areas. The Congress leader also asked the DRDA to table the detailed account of both Centre and State sponsored schemes under the district fund allocation for 2005 -2006 in the next DPDB meeting. He also asked the Horticulture Department to submit the names of the beneficiaries, projects/schemes and fund allocations for the year 2005-2006 under the concern department in the next board meeting. MLAs C.Apok Jamir, Taka Masa and Nungsangyapang also spoke during the DPDB Meeting.

The Board Members also, after discussions, approved the action plan 2006-2007 for Changtongya and Ongpangkong Block, up-gradation of sunrise Kinder Garden School Changtongya up to Class IX as well as approved Grant-in-Aid to 2nd NAP Secondary School (Alichen), Blue Hill School (Yimyu), Edith Douglas Higher Secondary School, (Mokokchung) Mission School (Changki), Middle School (Longnak), St. John School (Changtongya), Baptist Mission School (Longjang) and Hills Night School (Mokokchung).

The board after verification also approved recommendations for registration Yimsen Tekong Welfare Society, Satilongkong Welfare Society, Kupok Welfare Society and Salong Multipurpose Society (all from Mokokchung Village) as well as Sumudem Club, (Anakiyimsen) and Tembar Welfare Society (Dilong Ward Mokokchung).  

It was also decided that ten MLAs from Mokokchung would donate Rs 1 Lakh towards the Watsu Mungdang’s Silver Jubilee fund. The board also deliberated rendering financial assistance towards the repair and maintenance of Fazl Ali College’s (Mokokchung) roadways. The matter would be taken up with the Higher & Technical Department, Kohima. The Minister for School Education would be approached for allocation of funds for that matter, it was decided.
