Kohima | October 11
The Western Angami Students' Union (WASU) today extended its “fully supports” to the Western Angami Public Organisation's (WAPO) opposition to the scheduled inauguration of the incomplete Kohima-Pedi-Peren road on October 12 by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“WASU shares WAPO’s concerns over the road's unfinished infrastructure, which poses serious safety risks to commuters. Vital sections, including bridges and blacktopping, remain incomplete,” according to WASU president Mhiesisekho and general secretary Rokuovolie Mor.
The Union urged authorities to halt the inauguration and prioritize the road’s proper completion before opening it to the public.
“We stand with WAPO in demanding accountability and ensuring that the road is made safe and reliable for public use,” WASU stated.
