WDCCI for review of high trade permit, renewal fee; passes other resolutions

Wokha, September 20 (MExN): The Wokha District Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI) has called upon the Wokha Town Council to review the exorbitant amount “levied upon business community on trade permit and annual renewal fee.”

The renewal fee must be considerably lower than trade permit fee and should be charged only a nominal amount, it said.

This was among host of resolutions the WDCCI adopted at its meeting on September 19.

“Non compliance to the demand of the business community will result in refusal to renew Trade permits by all traders,” the resolution said.

Meanwhile, the WDCCI also stated that the WTC should immediately stop the practice of collecting toll tax on GST billed consignments goods.

“The WTC should not issue temporary trade permit to any traders unless there is adequate slots available in Town Council complex,” it said, adding that the permit is obtained for a specific outlet, that same permit holder shall not be liable to pay other additional charges to town council for incoming goods.

The WDCCI also cautioned business establishment against manipulating GST bill, and said that the Chamber will take serious action against the defaulter.

The Chamber also resolved that for any inter-state/intra-district movement of goods entering Wokha district market, it would be mandatory to notify its office by the supplier.

It further said that the WDCCI shall be compelled to shutdown the outlets without any prior notice if 'any non-indigenous inhabitants is found conducting business activities within the market under the guise/name of any bonafide indigenous inhabitants without obtaining its registration.'

Any company found to be endorsing a particular product/brand to a second party without arriving at the final settlement with the first party, will be penalized and that product/brand shall be banned from the market, another resolution read.

“And if any party approaches the defaulting company for distributorship of the same branded product, the WDCCI shall take strict course of action against the party,” it added.

Meanwhile, in order to provide uniform opportunity to all traders, the business community also collectively decided to allot distributorship of only three brands per proprietor subject to adhering to company standard rates by the authorised distributor.

If any district distributor of a particular product/ brand is found extending its operation to any market that is beyond his/her designated jurisdiction, despite there being a distributor for the same already operating  in that market, the Chamber said that it would “consider such business activity as unethical and shall be penalised,” it said.

The WDCCI also unanimously decided that no buildings along the highway/roadside and market hub shall be occupied for godown (warehouse).

If any business owner defies this decision, the Chamber will take necessary action, it said.

All WDCCI registered business owners also need to obtain business ID card at a nominal rate from its office, it added.
