DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN): With less than a week remaining for the Nagaland Board of School Education’s (NBSE) HSLC and HSSLC exams, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) today expressed concern that students are facing difficulties due to irregular power supply.

A press release from the ASU President, Vizokho Zashümo and Vice President, Neitseituo Norbert Mere urged the Power Department to work towards providing stable power services during the examination season.

“Frequent load shedding and power outages should not come in the way of our students who deserve to be given urgent and necessary attention at this point of time. We trust that all required measures will be taken to address this particular concern,” it said.

The union meanwhile reiterated the Students’ Code of Conduct, which was publicized earlier as well. The Code of Conduct directs students in uniform against loitering in alcohol joints, cyber cafes etc; indulging in immoral activities, forming gangs or involving in violent behavior. It also cautions students below the age of 18 against driving.

The ASU further reaffirmed its standing resolution against the usage of government vehicles for dropping and picking up of students from schools.

It also said that any cases of abuse amounting to harassment of students would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, the ASU called upon all concerned to adhere to concession rates on taxi and bus fares which students are entitled to. It called upon colleges, schools and hostels to desist from charging exorbitant fees, and fines for failing in subjects or absenteeism. Tuition rate set earlier for urban areas (Rs 500 per student for Class 10 and below, and Rs 2000 for home tuition) was publicized again by the ASU. It further said that teacher/student ratio for a single batch should be 1:6.
It asked the public to inform the union of any cases that violate the directive by contacting 9862288196 or 7005088681.
