DMHP Zunheboto marked World Mental Health Day at District Hospital conference hall on October 8.

Zunheboto, October 8 (MExN): The District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Zunheboto marked World Mental Health Day with a programme emphasizing the importance of mental health in the workplace.

The event was held with the theme “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace” at the District Hospital conference hall on October 8 and it was chaired by Khruvotolu Nyekha, a Psychiatric social worker with the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP).
Dr Josia Sema, Nodal Officer, DMHP, welcomed attendees and highlighted the significance of the day, noting that World Mental Health Day has been celebrated since 1992.

The keynote speaker Lovitoli Awomi, counseling psychologist and founder of the LAPIYE Centre for Mental Well-being, addressed the audience about the mental health challenges posed by anxiety and depression. She underscored the critical distinction between intelligence types, stating that individuals with high emotional intelligence are significantly more likely to succeed than those with merely high cognitive intelligence.

Atolimi I Khuzhumi, clinical psychologist at DMHP, discussed the programme’s ongoing efforts, revealing that there are currently 135 clients receiving support in the Zunheboto District. She mentioned outreach initiatives, including visits to five schools in the area, aimed at raising awareness and providing mental health resources.
