Kevichiibeiü Rutsa addressing World Suicide Prevention Day in Kohima on September 10.

Kohima, September 10 (MExN): The Oriental College Kohima in partnership with National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), National Health Mission (NHM) and Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and Research Centre today observed World Suicide Prevention Day.
The event, held at Oriental College Auditorium, aimed to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention among students. Oriental College signed an official agreement with the Carl Rogers Institute to promote mental health support for its students.
The event featured a poster-making competition where students from both institutions created posters to convey messages of hope and prevention. Kevichiibeiü Rutsa, Principal, Carl Rogers Institute spoke on the occasion as the resource person. She spoke on the importance of recognizing the warning signs of suicide, addressing mental distress, and creating a supportive community. Rutsa emphasized that prevention involves building understanding and empathy, and encouraging open conversations about mental health.
Following the talk, students participated in a questionnaire to help them understand emotional well-being and risk factors.
