Wokha, March 11 (MExN): Wozuro Range Public Organization (WRPO) celebrated 25th year of Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) HQ Wozhuro establishment on March 11, 1997.
A press release received here stated that Dr Chumben Murry, MLA speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of EAC HQ Wozhuro said that though the people of the range may have been deprived of various infrastructures and development yet in the recent years many developments have come up in various aspects like education, road, and water and health sector.
The MLA said since a collective government is formed in the State as UDA to closely address the Naga political settlement, he was optimistic that there will be development in the area soon and assured to address various issues for the area people.
Talking on economic sustainability, Murry said that the area people mostly depend on agriculture which is only the primary source of income and livelihood. He informed the people to get more adequate knowledge by approaching the field department related to agri and allied sector. By having wider knowledge and skills implemented in the farming, people can yield good harvest of various farm products and increase income generating as compared to the traditional cultivation.
Meanwhile, he also urged the church leaders to reach out to the villagers with new innovative ideas that help the people to improve the lifestyle through economic sustainability programmes. “The economic progress of society is also a progress for the church,” he stated.
Earlier, Murry unveiled the 25 years Silver Jubilee EAC HQ Wozhuro, while the dedication of the monolith was done by Lipenthung, Pastor, Shaki Baptist Church.
Orenthung Lotha, Deputy Commissioner in his greetings said that though the government does not celebrate a jubilee for government establishments and existence, yet appreciated the WRPO for coming forward in unity to commemorate the occassion.
Wonchio Odyuo, Additional Secretary, Director Science and Technology, Government of Nagaland reflected on the history of EAC HQ Wozhuro, while Thechamo Tsanglao, President, Wozhuro Range Public Organization highlighted various developments and also appealed for a permanent and independent charge of EAC in HQ Wozhuro rather than an additional charge from Wokha HQ
In a short speech, Yanbemo Tungoe, Chairman, Wozhuro Range Chairman Union appealed for repairing the EAC office and quarters and also requested to construct Dobashi court in the area.
The programme was chaired by I Yentinoungbou EAC, Wozhuro and vote of thanks was delivered by M Sulanthung Lotha, Vice President, WRPO.
