Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): Irked that the state government remains tepid on the Intangki National park imbroglio, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has decided to remove the “war gates” at Beisumpuikam village on or before July 27 “and the government shall be held responsible for any untoward incident.” The ‘hoho’ issued a press release today expressing dismay by the “attitude of indifference” of the Government of Nagaland to the killings in Invai village on June 30 and the 15-day ultimatum served by the WSH.
“Consequently, the WSH convened an emergency meeting on 23 rd July 2011 and resolved to remove the war gates erected at both ends of Beisumpuikam village on or before July 27 and the government shall be held solely responsible for any untoward incidents that might occur on account of the action of the WSH,” the ‘hoho’ stated. WSH’s president LK Achumi and general secretary Vikato Shikhu appended the press release.
The ‘hoho’ said it had had demanded that the persons involved in the attack on the village and two village leaders were killed and two other villager injured. The WSH had also demanded that the government to “inform about the disappearance of death body of late Inashe, council chairman, Inavi village who was murdered during the attack. The ‘hoho’ named the “Zeliangrong Volunteers for Forest and Environment Protection” as the ones who had claimed responsibility for the attack.
“However, even after ascertaining the identity of the murderers, the government has not taken any action to book the murderers of Inavi villagers and the murderers are running scot-free, therefore in view of the lack of governance by the state government and its failure to protect its citizens, fulfill the legitimate demands of the WSH, the WSH is constraint to take its own course of action to safeguard and protect its interest,” the organization added.
