YTC clarifies on allegations

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 1 (MExN): Reacting to the news articles published recently in the local dailies by what it described as “a handful leaders of Tikhir speaking dialect” under the banner of the so called Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) and the Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) alleging the Yimchungrüs with different accusation, a press note issued by M. Thsesong, President Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) has clarified that all the press notes are “fabricated and lopsided which has no authenticity” and “hence, it becomes a habitual acts of some self interested Tikhir leaders”.
Therefore the YTC has clarified what it termed as “the false accusation leveled on innocent Yimchungrüs relating to the following instances”. The YTC stated that the kidnapping of 4 persons on 29th August 2011 at High Bridge by the so called Yimchunger Liberation Front (YLF) was a blind accusation of the TTC & TSU and that this was nothing but an “interpretation and an attempt to attract the attention of the esteemed readers to feel sympathy on them”. The YTC informed that there was no such organization as was allegedly stated. “The very words, ‘Yimchunger Liberation Front (YLF)’ is an alien to Yimchungrüs and its existence came to be known only through the press statements of the so called Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU)”, the YTC President clarified in his press note.
On the contrary, the YTC stated that when it had “refrained itself from making any kind of statement on the current issue, the various statements of the so called TTC and TSU has compelled the YTC to disclose the fact that the so called Tikhirs have their own organized armed outfit called ‘Limitsung’ in Tikhir dialect which apparently means, ‘Shield of the land’. According to the YTC the existence of this was clearly manifested in the resolution adopted during the session of  Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) General Hoho that was held from 29th-30th  April ‘2010 at TTC HQ., Kiusam Town.
The YTC disclosed that the resolution countersigned by S.T. Tsuthong Secretary Executive Committee TTC, Topan President TTC and R. Tosang Tikhir vice President TTC clearly mention several resolutions being adopted for Tikhir Limitsung Action Committee (TLAC). This included among others: to open and maintain joint account book for Tikhir Limitsung Action Committee (TLAC) and all Tikhir villages such as Household budget -Rs. 200/-, Rice- 5kgs per house and Meat- 35Kgs each village, town, unit and union. Besides it also included subsidy - Rs. 5000/-; restriction on cadres to mingle with Tikhir public without any valid reason; to put off the light/lamp after 8:00 pm and no cadres are allowed to roam around at night in the village there after; Yearly lump sum - Rs. 3000/- for every cadre; imposition of Rs. 10000/- and seizure of both movable and immovable properties of the cadre who in the event of defection to any underground faction; assurance by TTC to look after in the event of any untoward incidents happened to any of the cadres; to initiate stern action by the TTC to those who go against ‘Limitsung’ in any form; restriction on cadres for use of intoxicant things and to arrest by village Guards against the violators as per the resolution of the TTC.
The YTC also clarified that there was no Yimchungrü-Tikhir issue till the 1980’s, and the existence of Tikhir Baptist Church at Shamator Town came to the knowledge only through the statement of the TTC & TSU.
Further, it is also made known to TTC that all the organizations  within the demographic jurisdiction of YTC are  not a mere ‘mouthpiece’ of YTC as stated by TTC in Nagaland Post on 31st of August 2011, rather they are the vital constituent apparatus and back bone upon which the YTC stands as  the apex tribal organization.
The YTC stated it stood for peace, unity and preservation of culture, customs and traditions of the Yimchungrüs and its officials are chosen by people’s mandate. The YTC also appealed to the ENPO and ENSF to remain silent on the Yimchungrü-Tikhir issue as it a domestic matter which can easily be solved within us.
