
Zunheboto, July 14 (MExN): The Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church SBAK-Aizuto (ZTSBC) organized a post-Tuluni programme under the theme, ‘Niu Meshomheghi Mekua’ (Valuing Our Culture) at the church devotional hall on July 13.
A press release received here stated that Sumi Hoho, President, Nikheto Jimomi speaking as the guest speaker pointed out that “while moving with the contemporary era and having become the revolutionary state, Sumis are slowly loosing the cultural identity” and therefore, traditional culture, art & crafts should be taught to the children in order to preserve and to let the rich culture keep going till further generations.
Sumi Kukami Hoho, President, Kashito Yepthomi in his address said, “Whatever is being worn is our culture” and added that “Sumis are all from the kingship family.” Sumi Totimi Hoho, President, Kheholi Assumi spoke on the value of Sulimi (Sumi women) and said, “Sulimi are sincere and hardworking and in every walks of their life does to bring laurels to her family.”
Rev Dr Daniel Chishi, Pastor, ZTSBC while exhorting the mass asserted that “in Sumi society, the Sumi Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, Sumi Kumami Hoho and Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu are the leaders.” He encouraged the Sumi leaders to have a clear conscience and be unbiased in their every day decision.
Various cultural and traditional items were displayed during the programme. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Nupato Zhimo, Assistant Youth Leader and Newtoli Chophy Sunday School Leader. Prayer Upon the apex leaders of the Sumi Society was pronounced by Inakhu Sumi, Asst. Pastor ZTSBC.
