ZUF ‘capture’ cadres of rival group

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Sunday stated that a ‘Special Action Mission’ on the “cadres of merger group NSCN-U led by Raitu-Kamson” have captured four armed cadres on July 16 near Dolang Village in Noney District of Manipur.

According to a press release from John Pame, Secretary, Information & Publicity of ZUF, the Special Action Mission was “compelled and launched after patience consideration and much forbearance over the indecisive and stubborn manner of the merger group.”

“After many series of cautions and warnings made against the rampant extortion and wilful operation of the group in the Zeliangrong areas, the Front has taken up the measure against all corrupt activities to get rid of all evil designs in the society,” the release stated, claiming that many false and manipulative games have been played to misuse the name of ZUF for their personal gain and good.

It also observed that the fresh occurrence of confrontation surfaced “due to lack of responsible and competent leaders of Zeliangrong civil leaders.”

Further, it said that the “abrogation of the Declaration of re-union made on April 27, 2022” reflected the corrupt and dubious character of the leaders whose followers will naturally practise corrupt activities. “Therefore, after much observation and patience over their continuous disturbances against the publics and the people with their criminal intention and activities, the Front resorted to confront and bring the scoundrel activists to justice,” it said, adding that the captured would be “dealt with exemplary measures so as peace and justice is restored and normalcy is prevailed in the society.”

Meanwhile, it welcomed Sikam Thaimei,  a cadre from the merger group, who reportedly joined the ZUF and was “committed to the home fold”  on July 8. The ZUF also expressed gratitude to all the public and “ for the constant and unwavering support to the Zeliangrong political movement now under the initiatives of the Zeliangrong United Front.”
