ZUNHEBOTO, MAY 17 (MExN): The SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto re-affirming its earlier resolutions for total cessation of work under Sumi jurisdiction for an indefinite period till compensation payment is made.
In its letter, the committee Convener, Ghuvishe V Zhimomi and Secretary, Kakheto Zhimo said that owing to non response from the government to its demand for payment of compensation, there would be total cessation of the ongoing 2- lane road project “under Sumi jurisdiction (8 villages) with effect from May 17.”
“The total suspension of work is for an indefinite period (till the standing property damage compensation is paid to all the beneficiaries under SARDP-NE Road Project/2nd Phase), the letter informed.
It further advised contractors to move away all the machineries from site with immediate effect, adding that failure to comply will be penalized individually and with seizure of machinery(s).
The committee further stated that the 8 villages would take collective action if during the period of total cessation of work, any law enforcement agency(s) harasses or arrests any genuine landowner(s).
It further resolved that the committee would not attend any meeting till the compensation amount is sanctioned by the sanction authority.
