Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): Educated unemployed youths seek the intervention and action of the Governor of Nagaland against backdoor appointments in all the Nagaland government departments, including those who are refusing to “place requisition” to the Nagaland Public Service Commission to recruit personnel.
The Educated Unemployed Union of Nagaland (EUUN) referred to the culture of “backdoor” appointments in all the government departments in almost all categories of jobs.
“The government departments are refusing to place requisition to the NPSC or referring the vacancies of jobs to the Employment department for conducting competitive examinations. It is a major violation of rules and norms for recruitment and appointment to vacancies of various jobs,” the union stated in a letter addressed to the governor. The union said to have submitted a memorandum to the government of Nagaland demanding implementation of the Employment Exchange Act 1959. “But the government has ignored the matter,” the union stated.
“Therefore, the salaries of government appointees/incumbents must be upheld (sic) or blocked unless all the formalities of employment/recruitment on their behalves are completed by the NPSC and Employment department and endorsed to the AG for payment,” the union demanded.
The union has urged the governor to personally intervene and “restore the powers and functions of the NPSC and Employment department” as justice for the younger generation. Failing to do so would compel the union to take its own course of action, the union added. The union’s president Achilo Thong and general secretary Vichutho Nyusou appended the letter.
