The 21st state archival exhibition as part of Hornbill Festival 2021, showcasing the collection of selected historical documents from public and private records got underway at World War-II Museum arena, Kisama.
Inaugurated by Nagaland Art & Culture and Tourism Advisor, H Khehovi Yeputhomi on December 1 last, the exhibition incorporated reading facilities for interested students, scholars and researchers.
Interested visitors can also purchase the departmental publications.
The Nagaland State Archive is a branch of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Nagaland. The primary objective of the branch is collection and preservation of the state historical and to assist and render out service to scholars, historians, administrators, students and individual who wants to see historical documents of the Naga people.
To create awareness of archival treasures, the state archives exhibition has been put to draw attention of the public on the importance of achieves as the state’s documentary heritage, and to stress the role of archival institutions in restructuring future development.
Among the many materials on display includes; removal of Naga headquarters from Samuguding to Kohima-1880, tour diaries of the Deputy Commissioner Naga Hills-1882, administration report of the Naga Hills district-1883, newspapers clippings, tour Diary of DC Naga Hills-1917, Puliebadze Reserve Forest-1927, Kohima Town Boundary-1934-36, story of Naga Hills- 1935, Kohima Conference- 1956, Third Naga People’s Convention- 1959, report on the 1st general election -1963, AZ Phizo’s letters to Mrs. Ingunn N Means-1966 and many more.
The exhibition will be open from 10: 00 AM to 4:00 PM daily till December 10.
