Naga Hoho appeals to Assamese org
Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has appealed to an organization in Assam that is reportedly spreading propaganda and hostilities against Nagas in the Assam-Nagaland borders over a recent murder case, to refrain from unfound aggression. An organization from Assam called “Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad” (AJYCP) is said to be blocking the Assam-Nagaland road in Mariani area following the August 14 murder alleging that the atrocities was committed by the Nagas.
Reports have clearly said earlier that the person accused of the murder, caught by police, was in fact a non-Naga person, one Soban Ali, as stated by the police earlier.
The Naga Hoho has made a sincere appeal to the AJYCP not to distort the facts and said must stop misleading the law enforcing agencies as well as good citizens from both the sisterly states through propaganda.
“The Naga Hoho is well aware of the incident that took place near Lakhuti on 14th August, 2011 where Habid Ali was murdered by his business accomplice Soban Ali. The law and order problem further ignited between the two communities of Assam and Nagaland when some innocent Naga boys were manhandled by a mob from Assam who damaged few houses and vehicles belonging to Nagas,” the Naga Hoho said in a statement today issued by its President Keviletuo Kiewhuo and General Secretary P. Chuba Ozukum.
The Naga organization credited the Kyong Hoho, Doyang citizens Forum and thirteen other organizations from Assam for their efforts towards bringing peace and normalcy in the border area through their joint meeting following the incident.
“However, we are perturbed with the attitude and actions of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad for blocking the Assam Nagaland road in Mariani area following the 14th August incident alleging that the atrocities was committed by the Nagas. It is quite unfortunate on the part of AJYCP to dilute the issue of law and order problem with border dispute which is very sensitive in nature for both the Assamese and the Nagas,” the ‘hoho’ stated.
“We appeal to both the authorities of the state to handle this sensitive issue with extreme caution, knowing that a matchstick can burn the whole house down. Keeping in mind all these repercussions, the Naga Hoho sincerely appeals to the AJYCP not to distort the historical and circumstantial facts and stop misleading the law enforcing agencies as well as good citizens from both the sisterly states through cheap propaganda in future.”
The Naga Hoho also appealed to the people living in the border areas of Nagaland and Assam to inculcate a sense of harmony and peace by maintaining a “feeling of brotherhood” and ensure peaceful co-existence in all days to come in the best interest of both the states and communities.
