Australia’s Deputy Consul General Daniel Sim today said that the country is looking to work with Nagaland to help improve agriculture and horticulture development.
It would start with a sustainable horticulture project in Mokokchung district, he said while speaking at the “Cultural Connect” event of the Hornbill Festival 2021 at Kisama.
Attending the festival as the guest of honour, he said that Hornbill Festival is the ultimate multi-sensory experience showcasing the special and diverse culture, rich heritage and most importantly telling the Naga story to the world.
Australia recognizes the iconic and world renowned Hornbill Festival and the rich culture and heritage of the Naga people, he said, adding that “It is an amazing festival and has been a huge success.”
Sim said that he is looking forward to getting to know the Nagas more through art, music, architecture, textile and handicraft, film and literature.
He said that the Australian consul in Kolkata is on a mission to strengthen people to people, cultural links, and trade investment links with Eastern and North East India.
“It would endeavour to build cooperation and similarity between the people of Australia and Nagaland and rest of India,” he said.
