Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): The Bible Society of India (BSI), Dimapur Auxiliary held its 23rd Annual Thanksgiving from April 18 to 19 at Khabung Karong Baptist Church, organised by the BSI Senapati Branch. Around 1,000 delegates attended the programme.
On April 18, Rev Dr N Paphino delivered the message, referring to 2 Timothy 4:2 and stating, “preach the word of God in reason and out of season.” He spoke on the role of the Dimapur Auxiliary and said that alongside providing the Word of God in the heart languages of people, there is a need to continue preaching and teaching so that lives are transformed.
On April 19, Rev L Simon Raomai, NEITAC member and President of All Manipur Christian Organization, addressed the gathering. He said, “Bible transforms life of individual, church and society.” He added that in North East India, “all the credit should go to the Word of God in spiritual life, education and development.”
He said the Word of God offers comfort in despair, direction in life, strength in weakness and hope in difficult times. “We need to go back to the Bible. We need to read, mediate and obey it,” he said, while questioning why conflict persists despite a predominantly Christian population. He added that for peaceful living, people must “read it, meditate upon it and live by it and be rooted in the teachings of the Bible.”
The programme also featured special songs by Khabung Karong Baptist Church Youth, BSI Kohima Branch, Taphou Naga Baptist Church and Rakoveine. Appreciation mementos were presented to branches with the highest contributions, including Kohima, Churachandpur and Mokokchung, along with individual contributors. The organisers also expressed gratitude to the host church for its support.
