Call us ‘aggrieved’ not ‘bogus’ - ATAN

Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Aggrieved Teachers Association of Nagaland today claimed that the term ‘bogus’ designated by the Vigilance Commission’s Special Investigation Team “should not be applied to the aggrieved teachers.” The ATAN members are “genuinely qualified and appointed by the department,” the ATAN asserted in a note today.
The ATAN claimed it comprised members “who holds degrees from recognized universities” and has “few Ph.D degree holders, more than 50 post graduates, more than 500 graduates and the rest P.U./10+12 educational certificate holders.” The association’s convener Vikato Swu and general secretary Limayanger appended the note.
The ATAN said it does not support those in possession of fake educational certificates. “Out of 84 terminated on possession of fake educational certificates, one particular teacher’s termination has been revoked at the intervention of the honorable high court as her qualification was found to be genuine,” the ATAN asserted.
“Any individual /groups/associations doubting the credentials of the affected teachers may contact the ATAN office,” the ATAN said. The association appeals to the government to honor the chief minister’s assurance given on April 7, 2010 and also the approval of the department’s Verification Committee report of March 21, 2011. The ATAN claimed that the teachers were approved for retention and continuation of service “as their cases were found to be genuine by the DVC.”
