Collectively work out political & eco solution, NPCC to Naga groups

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 25 (MExN): While resolving to extend its fullest support to the endeavor of the FNR towards the Journey of Common Hope, Covenant of Reconciliation and the recent commitment to broaden the peace process, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has further resolved to urge the Naga National Workers to “collectively work out consensual and reciprocal political and economic solution”. This was part of the five point resolution adopted at a joint meeting of the NPCC and District Congress Committee (DCC) held on 25th August 2011 at Congress Bhavan Kohima.
The NPCC has also resolved to urge upon the Government of India to expedite settlement of the Naga political problem on the basis of the uniqueness of the Naga political history and their distinct tribal identity. In this regard the meeting recognized that the more than six decades of the “genuineness and noble Naga political movement, which had weathered many a stormy and perilous period”, was now engaged in peace talk with the Government of India to work out an honorable and acceptable political solution.
The Congress also took note that “simultaneously the entire population of Naga community, the civil societies and church organizations are ceaselessly praying for unity of all the Naga sections, so that with a common and united goal an honorable solution of the long standing problem can be worked out”.
The NPCC resolution also touched on the Intanki Reserved Forest issue while pointing out that it had “been brutally encroached upon despite clear Government notification issued now and then”. As such the NPCC demanded that the Government “sincerely protect and preserve the notified areas of Intanki Reserved Forest at all cost, which in reality is the pride and chief asset of the State of Nagaland”.
Regarding the dharna staged outside Raj Bhavan and the representation submitted to the Governor of Nagaland on 18th April 2011 demanding the removal of Nyeiwang Konyak as Minister School Education & SCERT for the “admitted misappropriation of public fund” the members resolved to stand by this demand and wait up to 10th Sept.2011, and in the event of failing to deliver justice within the stipulated time the NPCC shall resort to further course of action till justice is delivered.
The Opposition Congress also viewed what it termed as the “commission of rampant corruption by NPF Government in departments like Rural Development, School Education, Irrigation, NPWD, Police, Power, Food & Civil Supplies and many others”. The members during the joint meeting registered its serious concern and pledged to combat what it described as “this anti people’s menace with vigor and full strength in the larger interest of the people”.

NPCC Goodwill Mission to meet ENPO officials

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) during a joint meeting of its units from across the State has taken cognizance of what it termed as “the pertinent issue of ENPO”. The members resolved to constitute a NPCC Goodwill Mission to meet the ENPO officials and get acquainted with the grievance of the Eastern Naga people. This was stated in a press note issued by Vaprumu Demo General Secretary, NPCC wherein four other resolutions were adopted during Thursday’s meeting at Kohima.
