COVID-19 in Nagaland: 48 fresh cases as surges continue to rise in Dimapur, Kohima

A total of 48 fresh COVID-19 cases were register from Nagaland on Thursday taking the total tally to 1561 as infection from the virus continue to surge in particularly in Kohima and Dimapur. 

As per the latest information shared by a state health authority, all the new cases reported in the State on July 30 were from the two cities.

“Tested 516 samples for COVID-19, out of which 48 cases came out positive. 32 cases in Dimapur & 16 in Kohima,” State Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom update on Twitter in the afternoon. 

“All contact tracing are fully activated for all safety,” he added. 

Worst affected districts 

Dimapur continues to be the worst affected district by the virus and with the detection of 32 new cases, the total tally in district alone has increased to 605, with 436 designated as active.  The district has recorded a total of 167 recoveries while there are 4 deaths.

It is followed by Kohima, with a caseload of 443, out of which 316 is designated as active. The district has reported 127 recoveries so far. 

The third in the list is Peren with 252 positive cases. However with 222 recoveries, the district has only 30 active cases. 

Mon district, with 148 total cases, is fourth on the list. However, with just 10 recoveries so far, the district has the 3rd highest active cases in the state at 138. 

The cases in the other districts in terms of descending orders are as follows: Tuensang – 46; Phek – 28; Mokokchung – 13; Zunheboto – 12; Wokha – 8; and Longleng -3.

No cases has been reported so far from Kiphire district. 

With this, the COVID-19 Status in Nagaland as of July 30, 1:49 PM stood at: Total – 1561; Active – 961; Recovered – 595; and Death -4. 

While there were 5 deaths with positive cases in the State, the cause of death for a patient is officially classified as “Not Due To COVID-19.”
