Education dept requested to be more serious in managing the system
Phek, August 13 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in support of the recent show cause notice served by Thuvopisü Village SMB with regard to the zero attendance of teaching faculty in schools welcomed the move as an “act in marching ahead to deliver compatible quality education at the grass root level.”
The Union in a press release lamented that since the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, students have been left with no help to clarify their doubts or assistance to use modern technologies to access online classes.
CSU maintained that it has taken note of the grievances expressed by students and parents relating to online classes in the absence of teachers.
Therefore, CSU has reminded all the teachers under its jurisdiction to be present in the positing place or on roster basis as per the requirement by the students. The respective units are requested to be vigilant and report the same if any gap is found in delivering the online classes.
Meanwhile, the Union has also requested the Education Department to be more serious in managing the system. “Just merely giving notes and conducting online classes without checking teacher’s attendance and knowing the ground reality of the student’s problem is a mockery to itself,” it stated.
In concern to the decision of the Education Department to provide free pen drive with study materials to students in government schools, the CSU pointed out that “since majority of the students don’t posses smartphone, PC/laptop,” the department is requested “to provide hard copy notes for students who do not have such facilities.”
Highlighting another concern, the CSU stated that many students are deprived of attending online classes due to poor network connectivity especially in remote areas. “The irregularity of cellular connection should not be another blockage to the student’s online classes at this hour.” It therefore, requested the cellular operators to deliver quality service in all areas and not to ignore the remote areas.
CSU also appreciated and at the same time requested educational institutions to waive off some amounts in admission and monthly fees.
Further, it requested all educational institutions to follow Standard Operating Procedure issued by the government.
