‘Cultural Connect’ delivers artistic extravaganza

Kisama, December 8 (MExN): The cultural troupes of 17 different tribes continue to enthrall the spectators and visitors at the Hornbill festival. On the 8th day, the morning session of the cultural extravaganza was graced by Prof Jagdish Mukhi Ji, Governor of Assam as a special guest and Lt General Sukhdeep Sangwan Sena Medal Bar Director General Assam Rifles as an honored guest.
The Rengma cultural troupe presented a weeding song called Kera Su, Chang cultural troupe presented Naknyulam, a festival celebrated after the harvest of millet. Ao cultural troupe demonstrated Tsük asenba traditional grain pounding, Zeliang cultural troupe presented a traditional dance called Kwaksui which they perform during Hega festival, Sumi cultural troupe demonstrated Amikukula, traditional way of making fire, Pochury cultural troupe performed a folk dance called Eza Eza, Kuki cultural troupe also presented a folk dance called Sagol Kengkhai, Kachari cultural troupe performed a folk song called Dhansari Dimapuri, Sangtam cultural troupe performed Kangzah Kanglongru Ihbehba Yhduti, it is a ritual perform to eradicate insects/rodents from the fields.
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S Pangyu Phom and Advisor, Industries & Commerce, NIDC, Imnatiba were the hosts.
In the evening session, Advisor, National Highways, Treasuries & Accounts, Longrineken was the host. Various cultural troupes performed performances. Konyak tribe performed a field cultivation song; Stone Lifting competition an indigenous tribe, it is sung when sowing of paddy fields are in progress; Theze Dze Keya performed by Angami tribe; Shum-Shum Yankhu, a song and dance demonstration by Phom tribe; Alentsaba Lentsaba a folk song performed by Yimchungrü tribe; Lotha cultural troupe performed a fallen warrior dance; Nyeiplao, a traditional tattooing demonstrated by Khiamniungan tribe.
