Cultural troupes continue to enthrall spectators

Kohima, December 5 (MExN): The cultural troupes of 17 different tribes continue to enthrall the spectators and visitors at the Hornbill Festival. On the 5th day, the morning session of the cultural extravaganza was graced by 5 times Indian National Rally Champion and 2000 Asia Zone Rally Champion, Hari Singh, Major General IG AR (North) PC Nair and IPS Special DG CRPF, Arun Kumar Sharma.

 

Khiamnungan


The evening session of the cultural programme was graced by Marketing Director, JK Tyre & Ind Ltd. Vikram Malhotra.


The Sumi cultural troupe from Tichipami village presented a paddy sowing ritual known as ‘Aghixu Chine Eno Ghixu Ghili.’ The Kuki cultural troupe preformed the ‘Shuta Lam’ dance. The Zeliang, Mount N-Gaulo cultural troupe played the trumpet called ‘Tekie.’

 

Angami


The Pochury cultural troupe sang a folk song called ‘Putsa Khi, Zhutsa Khi.’ The Ao cultural troupe demonstrated paddy threshing called ‘Mo Anetba.’ The traditional archery game called ‘Singthsalu Kyamülitaba’ was demonstrated by the Sangtam cultural troupe.

Hornbill Festival


The Chang cultural troupe performed a folk song called ‘Kong- Kiepu.’ Traditional method of healing called ‘Montsai’ was demonstrated by the Lotha cultural troupe. The Phom cultural troupe performed a folk song and dance called ‘Mai Asho.’

 

The Yimchungrü cultural troupe performed the millet harvesting song called ‘Oh Lo Ha Lo.’ The Rengma cultural troupe performed a folk song called ‘Ngada Khwe.’ The Kachari cultural troupe performed a folk dance called ‘Daosri Delai.’

 


A traditional game called ‘Khuthuokeva’ (spinning a top made of wood) was performed by the Angami cultural troupe from Khonoma village. The Mopong Hongkong Yalam of the Konyak cultural troupe performed a song about the indigenous way of fetching water. The traditional marriage called ‘Paosopo Hiyam’ was enacted by the Khiamniungan cultural troupe.


The Chakhesang cultural troupe performed a song ‘Hetiti lizo,’ dedicated to the cuckoo (cuckoo) bird. ‘Wapang Kala’ a traditional game of the Garo was performed by Garo cultural troupe from Darogapathar village.

 

Lotha


A total of 17 cultural troupes of different tribes will perform new acts daily at Kisama main arena till December 10.
