DAN PAC suggests NLA role in Reconciliation

Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) today suggested a joint parliamentary forum where all the sixty legislators of the state’s Legislative Assembly can aid the ongoing Reconciliation process. The PAC suggested the said collective participation in a communiqué received here today, informing of the committee’s meeting on August 29.
The DAN PAC met August 29 and took a number of ‘resolutions.’ One of these ‘resolutions’ was a suggestion that all the legislators convene in the ‘joint parliamentary forum on Naga political issue’ to participate in the reconciliation process.
“The DAN PAC feels there is a need to convene the ‘Joint Parliamentary Forum on Naga Political Issue” so that collectively, the sixty members of the House including Opposition and Ruling benches can jointly take part in facilitating the ongoing unity and reconciliation process,” a the communiqué stated. The communiqué was appended by PAC chief Dr. TM Lotha and Member secretary Z Lohe.
Corresponding to the proposed step, the PAC also said all sections of the people including the undergrounds step forward to join the quest for reconciliation to make the stated goal a reality, and inclusive.’
 “The DAN PAC, while appreciating the efforts of the FNR (Forum for Naga reconciliation), calls upon all sections of the people including both the undergrounds and the overground (sic) leaders to also come forward and participate I the process for reconciliation, unity and oneness of Naga society so that the reconciliation and unity process becomes all inclusive.”   
The committee also reiterated the stand of the alliance that the state government ‘would pave the way for any alternative arrangement that may emerge through an honorable solution of Naga political issue.’  
The committee expressed appreciation for the recent meetings of the top Naga underground leaders that resulted in the signing of the “Naga concordant”.
The committee said the development is a historic and significant step taken by the underground leaders “towards oneness and unity”.   Among other resolutions, the committee welcomed the decision of the Nagaland government to recommend the formation of an autonomous authority or council for the “ENPO areas.”
Likewise, the committee welcomed the ‘resolutions on Lokpal Bill’ adopted by the Lok Sabha on August 27. “The DAN PAC also extends its appreciation to Anna Hazare and his team for their efforts, and congratulates them for their success. The DAN PAC further extends its support to any initiative that is aimed at electoral reforms. The DAN PAC is committed to the cause of fighting corruption and ringing about transparency in governance.”
