DIMAPUR, JULY 28 (MExN): One of the most efficient administrators to helm the affairs of Dimapur district in recent times, outgoing Deputy Commissioner Maong Aier was given a warm sent off on Wednesday, July 28. Aier will now take charge as the Commissioner of Excise, Dimapur. The district administration today organised a farewell programme for the DC and other outgoing administrative officers, who were either promoted or transferred to serve in different capacities, at the DC office complex.
A host of dignitaries including government officials as well as public leaders representing several civil organisations bid adieu to Aier. The people who spoke did not fail to mention the turbulent period of 2008, during which Aier was posted as the DC of the district and how he had led the administrative machinery in bringing calm and peace with able support of the public. Aier had earlier served in the capacity of ADC Dimapur back in the late nineties.
The DC’s counterpart from the DEF, Superintendent of Police Z. Mero described Aier as a strong administrator with an appreciative attitude and who could tackle the most volatile of situations competently. “I think the people of Dimapur are very fortunate to have him as an administrator.” Implying history will bear testimony about his competence, he said: “We all know how he worked.” Another remarkable characteristic about Aier the SP observed is his appreciative attitude. He (Aier) is very appreciative of his colleagues particularly the police, which encouraged the rank and file of the DEF to perform even better, the SP remarked.
“Today, he is going away but he isn’t going far,” the SP said adding that Aier will be posted in Dimapur as the Commissioner of Excise. The SP also expressed good wishes towards the other outgoing officers on behalf of the DEF.  Chief Advisor of the DMC Advisory Board, K. Keditsu described Aier as a God fearing person whose faith in God, he said is admirable. Stating it is normal for government servants to be transferred anytime and anywhere, nevertheless, Keditsu said Aier will willingly extend his help and advice whenever required in days to come.
Echoing similar observations of Aier, the apex women’s body of the district, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur described him as one exceptionally abled public administrator. Recalling the body’s association with Aier as the DC during the past three years, particularly the tumultuous year of 2008, the NWHD said that Aier was one who could be counted on. Aier was always in the ready to help and lead even in the oddest of hours, the NWHD said. It hoped for similar efficiency, if not better, in his new position as the head of the Excise department of the district.
One of the most respected clubs in the district, Dimapur Club felt that Aier simply as one of the best, if not the most efficient officer Dimapur has had over the years.  A touched Aier on his part reminisced about the years past, and the challenges he had encountered during his tenure. The frenzied year of 2008 and the return to normalcy was the result of teamwork and cooperation from all and most importantly the grace of the Almighty. Without the hand of the Prince of Peace (Jesus Christ), it would not have been possible, he said.
Aier had suffered a severe cardiac arrest in 2009 while in office. Stress that comes along with the nature of job was one of the chief reasons attributed to the near dead experience. Nevertheless by the power of God, he was “divinely healed”, he said.
Whatever that the district administration and the police has achieved today, he said was the result of teamwork and thanked the Lord for making that possible. He prayed that the incoming team of officers will testify that it will happen again. Further, he sought that the same kind of support be rendered to the incoming DC, N Hushili Sema, IAS and her subordinates as well.
