DNSU urges fair age relaxation for COVID-19 impacted aspirants

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 13 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed solidarity with aspirants affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and seeking a fair age relaxation for entry into government services.

While extending support to the demand for a more inclusive and equitable approach to address the challenges posed by the pandemic, the DNSU noted that the one-time age relaxation order (No.AR-5/ASSO/98 (Vol-1) Dt. 28-02-2022) is biased, as it was benefited only by a certain age group who were on the verge of being overaged.

This has resulted in an unfair disadvantage to many aspirants who have lost two years of attempts due to the non-conduct of examinations during the pandemic, it pointed out.

Considering this, the DNSU has endorsed several key demands from the aspirants, which include extending age relaxation up to 37 years for all candidates entering government services, ensuring that the age relaxation policy is applicable to all aspirants, irrespective of their current age group.

It also include aligning Nagaland’s age relaxation policies with those of other states such as Maharashtra, Sikkim, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Manipur.

With only a few months remaining before the announcement of NPSC & NSSB exams, the DNSU urged the state government to address these concerns promptly, taking into consideration the plight of thousands of aspirants. “We believe that a fair age relaxation policy will go a long way in mitigating the impact of the pandemic on our students and youth. We request the government to prioritize the welfare and future of our young people and take a compassionate approach to this issue,” it stated.
