WOKHA, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The first day of the Doyang Folk Festival in Wokha featured a variety of traditional activities and cultural exhibits, drawing participants from nearby villages as well as visitors from neighboring states.
The event showcased several indigenous Naga games, along with exhibitions of bamboo and wood crafts. Notable displays included the making of Naga plates, bamboo spoons, and the Naga spear throw. Other traditional activities included a stilt bamboo walk, demonstrations of the sharpest Naga machete, and identification of indigenous utility objects.

The festival also highlighted local cultural practices, such as the correct spelling of indigenous words and the traditional ululating.
The second and final day of the festival, scheduled for February 28, will feature competitions in folk dance, folk song, indigenous cotton yarn extraction and spinning, and folk fusion performances.
The Doyang Folk Festival is organized by Team Metamorphosis in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland. The event aims to promote the traditional Naga way of life and the natural beauty of the Doyang River.
The festival will conclude with a closing ceremony on February 28, with T Lemlila Sangtam, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Tourism as the special guest. The event will also feature addresses from John Zeliang, Head of Project DHEP, Vineet Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, and other dignitaries.
