Kiphire, April 24 (MExN): In commemoration of the World Veterinary Day, free anti-rabies vaccination camp was conducted under the theme, veterinarians response to the COVID-19 crisis, organised by Nagaland Veterinarians Association in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Nagaland at Veterinary Hospital, Kiphire on April 24.

A DIPR report stated that conducting the programme, Deputy Director, Veterinary Hospital, Kiphire read out the message conveyed by Nagaland Veterinarians Association President, Dr KN Zubemo Humtsoe on the occasion.

In its message the president said that the world Veterinary Day was founded by world Veterinary Association (WVA) to highlight the lifesaving work carried out by the Veterinarians around the world. And it is observed to recognize the contribution of Veterinarians in the field of health care and medical science and to make the world a better and safer place for both animals and humans. 

He also said that the aim of WVD is to promote the Veterinary profession and work on improvement of the animals and human welfare and environment. He said that during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the Veterinarians responded and played a crucial role in the service of public and taking care of animal welfare. Many pets (dogs) availed free vaccine during the day long free vaccine camp.
