Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): Serving ad-hoc teachers today expressed resentment that the School Education department regularized ‘bogus’ and ‘doubtful’ teachers while ignoring ‘genuine ad-hoc teachers’. The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Union (ANATU) issued an ultimatum today addressed to the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, School Education and SCERT, setting 15-days to fulfill a number of demands. Failing to fulfill the demands would force the ad-hoc teachers to taken an own course of action, the union stated.
‘The union expressed utter disappointment at the concern department for regularizing the bogus/doubtful categories of teachers, whereas the legitimate rights of the genuine Adhoc teachers have been deprived due to negligence and lackadaisical attitude on the part of the concern department to expedite our genuine demands,” the union stated.
The union has demanded completion of the regularization process of ad-hoc teachers who have fulfilled criteria and undergone suitability tests, within 15 days from the date of receiving this representation. The length of service of teachers should be counted from the date of the appointment of the incumbent, the union stated another demand. Further, all financial benefits due to the teachers should be given for the service rendered in the past, the ad-hoc teachers demanded.
The ANATU had a general meeting on July 26, 2011 and decided on a representation over issued related to the regularization process of genuine ad-hoc teachers. The representation was submitted on the same day with an ultimatum, of fifteen days failing which the union said it would be constrained to take its own course of action.
The union asked its members to cooperate and “take part in any public demonstration or agitation” as and when called for and stern action shall be taken against absentees.
The union also deliberated on the “issue of files” delayed in the P & AR department on the grounds that eight undergraduate teachers under the DIS Wokha establishment “whose names are listed along with the genuine ad-hoc teachers are party in the court case filed against the department.” The union has asked the department in concern to “detach the names of the eight UGT teachers from the genuine ad-hoc teachers as their case should be taken up separately.”
The department is asked to ‘look into matter at the earliest so as to prevent any untoward situation.’ However, the union also assured full cooperation with the department ‘if the demands are fulfilled within the stipulated time.’ The union’s president Neizevotuo Nakhro and general secretary Huskha Sema appended the representation.
