GHSS Peren celebrates platinum jubilee

Peren, October 23 (MExN): The Government Higher Secondary School, Peren celebrated its platinum jubilee on October 22 with Advisor for School Education & SCERT KT Sukhalu as special guest.

Upon arrival, the special guest unveiled the jubilee monolith, followed by the singing of jubilee anthem and a formal address.

According to an update from the DIPR on Sunday, Advisor Sukhalu lauded the school authorities, jubilee committee, alumni and host of dignitaries present in the programme for inviting him to attend and celebrate the auspicious occasion.

Sukhalu is said to have expressed pride in the school for its performance and the commitment of the community. He encouraged the gathering to impart quality education with good infrastructure and urged the parents to focus and invest more in the field of education.

As per the update, the Advisor stated that the government is trying its best to ensure quality education in the interior areas. He also advised the teachers to be sincere in their duty and stay committed to students in imparting education and to ensure good enrolment in the school for infrastructural development, it added.

Former Chief Minister of Nagaland and present Chairperson of the UDA TR Zeliang also graced the occasion as Chief Host and expressed his appreciation for the services rendered by the teaching faculty, management board, pioneers, and the non-teaching staff of the GHSS for the uplift of the school.

He encouraged the students and others to remember the teachers who uphold the culture and traditions of the people. The GHSS Peren is one of the most fortunate schools in the district and from the economic point of view, it is a big relief for the students since it offers science stream and has qualified teachers, the DIPR update stated.

Zeliang also acknowledged the teachers for their dedication and efforts towards delivering successful results of the students each year. He also spoke on the importance of  NEP project sponsored by the World Bank and appealed to the school officials to start implementing the project at the earliest.

Others who spoke in the programme included Principal Director for School Education, Thavaseelan K, NBSE Chairperson Asano Sekhose, Retd Asst Director and former Headmaster Suipeu Iheilung, and former Minister Neiba Ndang.

On the occasion, the school also honoured the alumni, former heads of the school, assistant heads and supporting staff for their immense contributions towards the school. Other highlights of the day included cultural shows, release of souvenir by special guest and a special presentation by students of GHSS.
