DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has informed that the “notorious Assam Rifles” has once again showed that they have no respect for the innocent Nagas even during peacetime. A press note from the MIP stated that on 10th September, the Assam Rifles let by Capt. post commander Hanuman, stationed at Tobu, Konyak Region raided the residence of Naga Army officer Lt. Col. Lanpai Lanpai, even though fully aware that the officer was not at home. “At 11:00 P.M, his wife and children were awakened from their sleep and were threatened at gunpoint. Their excuse was that UNLF members were sheltered by them. The house was ransacked but they found nothing to prove that UNLF were being sheltered”, stated the MIP.
The press note stated that if the AR wanted to prove their “heroism in Naga homeland”, they should first respect the Cease Fire ground rules entered between GPRN/NSCN and GOI. “They are cautioned not to sneak into Nagas homes like common thieves. It is ridiculous to call themselves ‘Their friends of the hill people’ when their actions are more like burglars”, the MIP note stated.
The GPRN/NSCN demanded the AR higher authorities to immediately put some sense into the activities of Commanding officer Maj. Chauhan of 6 AR and also Capt. Hanuman, “who appears to be taking the assistance from few Khaplang men to raid the residences of GPRN/NSCN officials”. “History is clear, there are instances of many AR officers who wanted to go back to mainland India with gallantry awards and as heroes yet never saw their wives and children again”.
Crime Control Cell GPRN/NSCN Seizes 1000 Kg Ganja
In a separate press note it was informed that the Crime Control Cell (CCC) GPRN/NSCN on 6th September 2011, on receipt of intelligence report raided the residence of one Dy. Kilonser of NSCN (IM) and recovered 1000 Kg of Ganja ready to be supplied to agents outside Nagaland.
A press note issued by Z. Lhokuto Chishi Secretary, CCC, GPRN/NSCN (Issued through MIP) stated that the action was necessitated because of the “rising trend of responsible authorities of political groups indulging in such illicit trade”. “It also invariably tarnishes the image of national workers in general. Greed and individual aggrandizement throws the door of corruption wide open and ultimately Naga society will become a victim”, the press note explained.
The CCC, GPRN/NSCN stated that it will continue to check inter-state drug trafficking and other criminal activities irrespective of political affiliations. It solicits co-operation from the general public.
