DIMAPUR, April 19 (MExN): ICFAI University Nagaland in Dimapur and Jubilee Memorial College (JMC) in Mokokchung marked World Heritage Day on April 18 with activities centred on heritage, identity, and cultural preservation.
At ICFAI University Nagaland, a poster making competition was organised on campus. The event was jointly conducted by the university’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, cultural forum FoCuS, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). It was based on the theme “Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Contexts of Conflicts and Disasters,” in line with the global focus of the observance this year.
Students participated in the competition, reflecting on issues of cultural preservation during crises through their artwork. Registrar Rupanka Bhuyan stated that the event “successfully promoted artistic expression and social responsibility among participants.”

Jubilee Memorial College (JMC) also observed the day through a programme organised by its Department of History under the theme “Between Faith and Ancestry: Negotiating Indigenous Identity in Christian Naga Society.” The department has been marking the occasion for five consecutive years.
The programme focused on discussions around heritage and identity. An essay competition was conducted with participation from 20 students, examining the relationship between faith and indigenous identity. Certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners, while the first and second prize holders presented short talks based on their essays.
