KBYF reiterate closure of shops on Sundays

Kohima, September 8 (MExN): The Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF), which is the fellowship of all the pastors of the Baptist Churches in Kohima, has reiterated its stand with the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industries that all shops in Kohima should remain closed on Sundays. In this connection, the general public as well as the shopkeepers has been requested to cooperate and close all transactions on the seventh day of every week “as it is Sunday, a holiday.”
“Not only that, but as per the KCCI rule one day holiday is necessary for the business community to rest. Nagaland being as Christian state, the KBPF wants to discourage believers shopping on Sundays as it is the Lord’s Holy Day,” a release received here said today.
Also stating that power cut is nothing new in Kohima, the KBPF lamented the erratic power supply especially during the service hours on Sundays. It may be noted that not all the churches, especially the smaller ones, have the financial resource to buy generator which is necessary if there is no power supply, it said and requested the power department to kindly provide regular power supply at least during the service hours on Sundays for the convenience of all the worshippers.
Registering objection to exams/interview being conducted on Sundays, the KBPF appealed the concerned authorities (government) to chalk out the dates in such a way that it does not coincide with Sundays. In the meantime, the KBPF thanked all the churches, well wishers and like-minded people and called upon them to support these through their prayers for the extension of His Kingdom. This was stated in a release issued by KBPF president Rev. Hotokhu Zhimomi and joint secretary Wepre Mero.
