Kidnappers demand 2 crore

Dimapur, September 4 (MExN):  Dimapur appears to be getting more unsafe by the day. Delayed reports have poured in that atleast four non-Nagas have been kidnapped in Dimapur in the last two months alone. The victims have been mostly children who were kidnapped during school hours from various destinations. Unfortunately, none of the cases were reported to the police.
On Saturday September 3, a class IV student of a prestigious school in Dimapur was kidnapped from his bus pick-up point just outside his residence. An FIR was lodged in the West Police Station by the boy’s mother. Police suspect the kidnappers to be Nagas but do not rule out the involvement of non-Nagas. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs.2 crore, the police informed. “We are doing our job but non-cooperation on the part of the relatives is hampering investigation,” Superintendent of Police, Z Mero said Sunday evening. Nevertheless, the police will do theirs, he added.     Three previous cases of kidnapping in July and August were not reported to the police and the all victims were released after paying ransom.

Teachers flay abduction

Dimapur, September 4 (MExN):
The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association of Dimapur Unit denounces the reported abduction of a school going child on September 3 in Dimapur.
“The association is deeply anguished by the increase in crime taking place in and around Dimapur. While condemning the heinous act, the ANPSA Dimapur unit demands for the immediate safe release of the child without any harm or pre-condition, failing which the association will be compelled to take further course of action,” a note from the association said today.
The unit appeals to all civil organizations and law abiding citizens to condemn “such criminality.”  The law enforcing agencies and the district administration are urged to ‘take stern action and leave no stone unturned till the culprits are brought to justice.’
