KPA Probe: ANCSU keeps digital protest in abeyance for a month

Enquiry Committee Report disclosed but ‘unsatisfactory’, Union says

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) on Tuesday informed that it has decided to keep its ‘intensified and indefinite digital protest’ in abeyance after the Enquiry Committee Report was disclosed to the Union on June 21.

The Union said that the report was disclosed after continued pressing to the State government regarding details of the fund utilization at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) under AICTE-NEQIP.

In a statement appended by its President and Vice President, the ANCSU stated that it served its intimation to the State Chief Secretary (CS) on June 14 to bring out the Committee Report within one week. Thereafter, on invitation of the State government, a meeting was held on June 19 and 21 with the government, it informed.

However, ANCSU expressed dissatisfaction with the report, terming it ‘vague and incomprehensive’. Subsequently, on June 22, the State government through the State CS communicated to the ANCSU that the Committee report will be reviewed in a month’s time with effect from the date of the Chief Secretary’s letter.

“The government is going to review the above said report in a month's time, during which you will be given ample opportunity to be heard and give your views/comments. In view of the position stated above, you are requested to call off the proposed digital agitation,” the letter from the CS read.

As such, the ANCSU informed that it is keeping its intensified and indefinite digital protest in abeyance for a period of one month as the Committee report needs to be reviewed for necessary and befitting action.
