KVK Kohima conducts training at Chunlikha village

Kohima, April 24 (MExN): One day training programme was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima at Chunlikha village on April 24.

The resource persons were Puchono Kweho, SMS (Agronomy) and Eliseni Tsopoe, SMS (Plant protection) who delivered on the topic ‘Agro biodiversity in Jhum’ and ‘Mushroom production’ respectively.

In technical session, Puchonokweho spoke on the importance of afforestation, introduction of leguminous crops etc to ensure sustainable maintenance of the environment and productivity in Jhum cultivation.

Eliseni Tsopoe stressed the important role that mushrooms contribute to the livelihoods of rural dwellers. ‘Mushroom production helps in improving food security and boosts income generation because the cultivation process takes a short period of time,’ she pointed out.

A hands on demonstration on mushroom was also conducted. All together 15 farmers of Achunlizie(SHG)from Chunlikha village participated in the training. Various summer crops seeds and mushroom spawn were also distributed to the participants. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the organiser for conducting such programs for their benefit.
