Longleng, October 30 (MExN): The 50th anniversary of Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng was celebrated with Thavaseelan K (IAS), Principal Director, School Education as the special guest at the school auditorium on October 28, stated a DIPR report.
In his jubilee address, quoting ‘Education is the key to success and the most powerful weapon to change the world,’ Thavaseelan exhorted the students to learn, equip, update and change with the given resources to achieve in their lives. “In order to transform our goals and dreams into reality he advised the students to be sincere and committed in their studies,” he said.
While encouraging the parents, he said ‘education is the best investment and the most expensive gift that you can give to your child.’ Therefore, he urged the parents and well wishers to continue to extend their cooperation and support towards the school and the teaching faculty members for upliftment of the school and added 'Your cooperation and support will be a huge development for the success of the students.
In his solidarity message, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng Dharam Raj acknowledged the fruits of development provided by the school. He said the school has contributed a lot in the development of Longleng district.
Exhorting the students, the DC appealed to the students to learn more and perform more, and set high goals and try to achieve it through their hard work and dedication. He urged them to learn and achieve it to contribute towards the progress of the school and also for the welfare of the society.
Earlier, the special guest unveiled the jubilee monolith and released the jubilee souvenir. N. Tialemba Phom, Executive Secretary, BPCA pronounced the monolith dedicatory prayer. Invocation and welcome address was proposed by Rev H Beau, Pastor, LTBC and YB Angam, Jubilee Planning Convenor respectively.
Commendation speech was proposed by Yahuto Kath, Sr SDEO DEO incharge Longleng and while B Nyenghong Phom, Addl Director, Agri Department spoke on behalf of alumni.
Exhortation was delivered by Shami Angh, President Phom People's Council (PPC), M Shayung Phom Addl Secretary, Home Department; C Henow Phom, Principal GHSS, Diphuphar and N Dape Phom, President Phom Students' Conference (PSC).
The programme concluded with vote of thanks and benediction proposed by M Arulmaran, Sr Principal, BGHSS, Longleng and Meren Pongen Pastor, Ao Baptist Arogo, Longleng respectively.
