Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): Three riders namely Rakesh, Anisha and Kevilebo Zhotso hailing from Nepal and India are coming together for the ‘Ladakh Expedition’ to ride the highest plateau of India, Ladakh.

Kevilebo Zhotso hailing from Jakhama village, Nagaland has been into professional cycling for over 12 years. He has participated in few races, which covers over a 1000 km stretch. He is also a pioneer in Nagaland Cycling Association (NCA), promoting the sport in the state, the association stated in a press release. Kevilebo has also coached the Nagaland Cycling Team in the 2022 North East Olympics held in Shillong.

The expedition codenamed ‘Ladakh Expedition’ is expected to start on August 9 from Manali to Ladakh, and then ride back to Manali covering over 1800 kms over a period of 25 days, and reaching an altitude of over 5600m above sea level.

NCA in a press release stated that over the last few years, there has been a substantial growth in the MTB cycling community in the country but the opportunity to make a career out of cycling is very less. “Cyclists are very passionate about it from a sports point of view, but not everyone can win races. We as a community need to help these cyclists make a career out of their passion. This ride aims to promote cycling tours and also promote MTB biking races,” the association stated.

NCA along with the Nagaland Mountain Biking Community has conveyed Kevilebo Zhotso and his team the best wishes for the tour.
