Nagaland: 53 new COVID cases

DIMAPUR, APRIL 22 (MExN): 53 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Nagaland on April 22. The Health Department stated that the new cases include 41 from Dimapur, 10 from Kohima, 1 from Peren and 1 from Phek. 2 patients have recovered from the infection in Kohima. 

The new cases include 5 from the armed forces/security personnel (1 from Dimapur, 4 from Kohima), 12 returnees/travelers (11 from Dimapur, 1 from Kohima) and 36 traced contacts (29 from Dimapur, 5 from Kohima, 1 from Phek, 1 from Peren). 

The total caseload of the State now is 12,800. Meanwhile, 12,116 patients have recovered and the number of active cases in the State is now 385. 

Reduced rates for COVID tests
The Nagaland State Government has notified the proposed new rates for the government facilities and hospitals providing COVID-19 tests. 

The price for RT-PCR tests has been revised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 800. TrueNat tests have been revised from Rs 1,500 to Rs 800 and the rate for Rapid Antigen Test has been revised from Rs 500 to 250.  

Meanwhile, BPL card holders, people above 60 years, children below 10 years, and those who are traced contacts will be exempted from charges. 

With regard to private laboratories/ hospitals, on account of the decreased costs of kits and consumables, and keeping in mind the prevailing rates in other states, it has been informed that consultation may be held with them and the revised rates notified by the Principal Director.
