State DoSE extends summer break for schools to May 21
Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland on Wednesday informed that the summer vacation declared for all schools (both government and private) functioning within Nagaland earlier on April 29 has been extended up to May 21. All hostels accommodating school students shall also be closed during the period of summer vacation, the notification from Principal Director, Shahnavas C stated.
Committee to monitor telecast content
Dimapur, May 12 (MExN): The Dimapur District Level Monitoring Committee to monitor content telecast by private TV channels, private FM channels and Community Radio Stations (CRS) has been constituted with the following members: Deputy Commissioner as chairperson with District Public Relation Officer, Commissioner of Police, District Information Officer and President, Dimapur Press Club. DC Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan, in a press release informed that the committee has been constituted in pursuance of directive from the Directorate of Information & Public Relation.
Total power shutdown from May 13-14 in Wokha, Tseminyu & Pughoboto area
Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Office of the Executive Engineer, Transmission Division Kohima has informed that a total shutdown of power supply has been scheduled from May 13 to 14 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm in whole of Wokha district (Upper range), Tseminyu area and Pughoboto area. The shutdown has been necessitated for dismantling and de-stringing works of 132kV tower on Kohima-Wokha-Doyang Transmission line near Longsa village affected due to stone quarrying, the department stated. Public in the affected areas have been requested to extend cooperation and bear the inconvenience during the shutdown period.
APC Kikheto assigned as Nodal Officer for Dimapur dist
Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has assigned Agriculture Production Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema as the Nodal Officer for Dimapur district to coordinate with the Dimapur District Task Force on matters relating to the management of COVID-19 activities. Stating this in an order on may 12, Chief Secretary J Alam authorized the officer to co-opt other officials from government departments to assist him as and when required.
Security forces rescue two civilians
Kohima, May 12 (MExN): Security Forces in a joint operation with Police apprehended two active cadres of NSCN (IM) and rescued two civilians in Dimapur on May 9. “Based on a specific input, Security Forces launched a joint operation with State Police apprehending two active cadres of NSCN (IM) and rescued the couple, who were earlier abducted from Nagaland Gate,” a press release from PRO (Def) Kohima stated on Wednesday. During the operation, the security forces also recovered one .32 Pistol, three rounds of .32 ammunition, two mobile phones and other incriminating documents, the release stated. The apprehended cadres along with recovered items have been handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur District for further investigation, it added.
NSCN (IM) UT mourns
Dimapur, May 12 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Union Territory has mourned the demise of John Poumai (Razou Peyu) who passed away on May 12 in Dimapur. In a condolence note issued through the UT Secretary, the UT Caretaker CAO stated that late Poumai was a dedicated, humble, and kind man whose sacrifice for the Naga Nation will always be remembered. “His untimely demise is truly saddening... Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the bereaved during such dark times in their lives,” the condolence note stated.
