Kohima, April 22 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has re-constituted the State Advisory Board on Disability to exercise the powers conferred on and to perform the function assigned to it under the provision Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and sub section (1) & (2) of Section 67 of the Nagaland Rights of persons with Disabilities rules 2019.
According to a DIPR report, the Board will be headed by Minister, i/c Social Welfare Department and Chairperson; Chief Secretary, Nagaland-Vice Chairperson; with members including Advisor, Social Welfare; two NLA members to be nominated by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, AHODs of Finance Department, Health & Family Welfare Department, Information Technology & Communication Department, Industries & Commerce Department, Lab. & Emp. & Skill Development, Craftsman & Training Department, P&AR Department, Rural Development Department, School Education Department, Science & Technology Department, Social Welfare Department, Transport Department, Works & Housing Department, Urban Development Department, Youth Resource & Sports Department, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
Members experts in the field of disability and rehabilitation: Representative from DDRC Dimapur District Hospital; Members to represent the districts: one representative from the office of the Commissioner, Nagaland representing the District-level Committees on Disability; Members to represent the NGOs concerned with disabilities: one representative each from the five groups of specified Disabilities as mentioned in the Scheduled of the Rights of Persons With disability Act 2016 - either an individual with disability - or from an NGO working in the area of any specified disabilities; Representative from Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI); and Director, Social Welfare as Member Secretary.
