Nagaland Super League: Parting Glimpses

Extra Miles, Extra Heights: Fans perched on trees near the stadium to catch a glimpse of the final showdown between Barak FC and Longterok FC on April 1. With tickets selling out a day in advance and only a lucky few managing to grab the last ones at the venue—Chümoukedima Sports Stadium—many hopefuls queued for hours, only to leave empty-handed. With the stadium’s limited capacity and only two viewing sides, exploring options like giant screens outside the venue, as seen in major sporting events, could enhance future experiences.

The Sound of Passion: Barak FC supporters turned up in full force, their energy infectious. Drums rolled, trumpets blared, and a megaphone-wielding leader guided the crowd into a rousing chorus of ‘Aliu Kalungbo Ram’ (My Land, My Pride) and other anthems, setting the stage for a thrilling final.
Songs and Sportsmanship: Longterok FC fans had their own rhythm, chanting in unison to rally their team. Melodies from popular Ao songs, including the language bridging ‘Itaya Aonung’ (Moonlit Night) were belted out,  transforming the stands into a festival of football and music.
A Selfie to Remember: Football thrives on its passionate fans. Here, Barak FC’s Dziesengulie Kire obliges a selfie request, making it a match-day memory to cherish for both the player and the supporter.
Watchful Eyes Amid Euphoria: Amid the high spirits and exuberant celebrations, a vigilant police contingent and dedicated volunteers ensured the excitement remained joyous, not rowdy.
The Final Whistle, the Final Cleanup: With great games come great responsibilities. As the dust settled and the stands emptied, sanitation workers had their hands—and trash bags—full, restoring the stadium to its pristine state after a night of high-energy football and festivities.
