Equally sharing concern and responsibilities, as the state government and its agencies battle the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a surge in voluntary community engagement and contributions in various ways and forms.


At this time of crisis and an uncertain period, it is uplifting to see many individuals, churches, organisations etc coming out to extend help in whatever ways one could do. One such instances is the ‘Charity Fund Drive for COVID-19’ undertaken by ‘Nagaland Warriors’ a Group in whatsapp forum solely for the health workers.


A member of the group, Kiyeto Assumi Swu said, ‘Nagaland Warriors’ group started by some likeminded people have members from all walks of life including elected legislators, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, homemakers, physicians, uniformed personnel, social workers etc. 


Acknowledging the crucial role of the health workers during this pandemic, it was consensually decided by the members to start a charity fund drive for COVID-19 especially for health workers Warriors, and could generate an amount of Rs. 3,32,302 besides thermal flasks, toothpastes and toothbrushes.


Subsequently, the members have donated Rs. 50,000 along with five flasks to the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur on June 29, and another Rs.50,000 including five flasks and 90 toothbrush and toothpaste each to Dr Kheshito Zhimomi, Medical Superintendent, COVID-19 Hospital, Dimapur.


The cash and the materials were handed over by the group members Kiyeto Assumi, social worker, Lovito Zhimomi, former banker, Dr Mulato Shikhu, Surgeon and Dr Imti, DSO.


Swu informed that remaining amount will be contributed to the frontline workers as part of its ongoing project.
