Kohima, November 23 (MExN): Leader of the Naga People’s Front Legislature Wing TR Zeliang today categorically stated that NPF is the only political party that truly worked and talked for the Naga political issue.

“Many political parties talk about Naga political issue during the peak hour of election time but the principal of NPF is purely for the Naga cause,” the NPF Press Bureau quoted him as saying.

Zeliang who was the guest speaker at the NPF Central Women Wing co-ordination meeting in Kohima on Tuesday said that NPF party does not only walk the talk when it comes to Naga political issue but also manifested it. He pointed out that when NPF was in the reign of state affairs, it had called on all political parties including the civil societies and adopted a resolution not to distribute party tickets or file nomination for the 2018 State General election as part of “solution before election.” However, the BJP had walked out the same day, the Press Bureau’s communiqué stated.

TR Zeliang also stressed upon the importance of women’s role in the society, stating that it was only the NPF party that truly considered that women had a vital role towards creating better society. Hence, in 2017, the party government had initiated and announced 33% reservation to the local urban bodies but sadly due to hue and cry from the public, it could not materialize, the communiqué stated.

Speaking on Manipur state election due next year, TR Zeliang expressed confidence that the NPF would secure more seats and protect the Naga identity as well as the party.

He also called upon the women to come forward and play their important role in politics for shaping a better society, the communiqué stated.

NPF President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu who also spoke on the occasion reminded that the NPF party was formed in the midst of blood and tears and with a purpose for the Naga people. Maintaining that other political parties are form for election with a vision for power and money, he said that the regional NPF is formed “purely for the better purpose of the Naga people.”

“He recalled that NPF party is for the vision of the Naga people, belongs to every Naga people, and stated that many present leaders who may be in different political parties may also come back to the NPF party one day as this party belong to no one but the Naga people,” the communiqué stated.

Short speeches were also delivered by the Manipur State unit women Wing, Sano Vamuzo, Advisor Central Women Wing and Central Youth Wing, it added.

As per the communiqué, the co-ordination meeting was attended by women leaders from Manipur State Unit and all the 14 divisional units of Nagaland State. A four-point resolution was also adopted during the meeting wherein the NPF Women Wing reiterated its support to the leadership of the Party President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and the NPF Legislature Party leader TR Zeliang to carry forward the party legacy of “Peace and Development” for the Naga People.

The NPF Women Wing re-affirmed its support to the leadership of its President Yanhola Yimchunger and resolved to re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to the vision of the party by becoming a stronger party wing. It also resolved to give full support to the party candidates in the upcoming Manipur State Assembly Election 2022 by actively campaigning and participating in the election rallies.

The NPF Women Wing also resolved to increase its current strength of its office bearers from 23 members to a larger number and also re-activate all its Unit levels in Nagaland in preparation of the 2023 Nagaland State Assembly General Election. It will also tour all its Nagaland division offices before the declaration of the 2023 general election, the communiqué stated.
