Kohima, May 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) on Wednesday organised a farewell programme in honour of Secretary for School Education, Mhathung Tungoe, alongside a welcome ceremony for the 55th Nagaland Secretariat Service (NSS) Batch at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima.
Addressing the gathering, Tungoe described retirement as a transition from one stage of life to another and said the induction of the new batch symbolised the passing of responsibilities from the older generation to the younger one in public service.
He advised the newly inducted officers to work with dedication, sincerity and professionalism, stressing that strong work ethics and commitment are essential in government service. He also urged them to uphold integrity and impartiality in official duties and avoid personal obligations that could affect fair decision-making.
Speaking on behalf of the NSSA, P Nungsangwapang Jamir, Secretary of Planning & Transformation, termed the occasion emotional and meaningful as it marked both a farewell and a new beginning. He encouraged the new officers to adapt to the Secretariat work culture and maintain discipline, punctuality and teamwork.
Recalling his years of service with Tungoe, Jamir praised the retiring officer for his sincerity, calm leadership and dedication, stating that his contributions greatly benefited colleagues and departments alike.
NSSA President and Deputy Secretary Neiserü Miachieo also expressed gratitude to Tungoe for his dedicated service and wished him a healthy retired life.
The programme was chaired by NSSA Vice President V Angela Sophie. A short speech on behalf of the 55th batch was delivered by Azizu Marcel I Sangtam. The event concluded with a general body meeting in the second session.
