Phek farmers trained in modern Mithun management

Participants attend a hands-on training session on scientific mithun management at ICAR–NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, during the five-day programme for farmers from Pholami village, Phek district.

Medziphema, July 31 (MExN):  The ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR–NRC on Mithun), Medziphema, in collaboration with ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Phek, concluded a five-day training programme on "Scientific Mithun Management and Value Addition of Mithun Products" on July 31.

The training, held from July 27 to 31, was attended by 20 mithun farmers from Pholami village in Phek district. The programme aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge and skills in scientific mithun rearing while promoting value addition and entrepreneurship.

 

According to a media brief, participants received hands-on training in scientific mithun management, breeding, feeding, animal health, integrated farming systems, entrepreneurship, and value addition of mithun meat and milk products. The sessions included expert lectures, practical demonstrations and field visits.

The programme concluded with a farmer-scientist interaction, followed by the valedictory session and distribution of training certificates. Participants appreciated the practical and interactive nature of the training, the release stated.

ICAR–NRC on Mithun and ICAR–KVK, Phek said the initiative reflects their commitment to strengthening farmers' capacities, promoting scientific mithun farming practices, encouraging value addition, and supporting sustainable livelihood development in the Northeast region.
